17/12/2015
Many thanks to Jonathan Brookes for contacting English Fords and providing some very interesting information on the fords in Linton. The first image is the Mill Lane ford shown in flood following recent heavy rains and young Master Eddie Brookes in the foreground.
The second is a new ford to the site taken by Helen Brookes and found in Horn Lane.
Finally there is an image of the former High Street ford beside the Swan Inn with its sixteenth century footbridge.Swan Inn Ford All in all a lovely collection of fords on this stretch of the River Granta.
Jonathan also pointed out the demise of the nearby ford at Steeple Bumpstead in Essex, Steeple Bumpstead Ford another sad fording loss.
